New to our blog, Canadian alt-pop artist Housewife has hit our radar through their latest single, Matilda.
By Graeme Smith
There’s a melancholic storytelling about Matilda that draws you in instantly. A stripped-back first verse gives plenty of space to the vulnerable vocals and their gripping lyrics. As the track arrives at its chorus, the tempo ramps up, as does the catchiness. It’s truly one of the most memorable hooks I’ve heard for awhile.
Housewife is a force to be reckoned with and their new music has all the hallmarks of an act on the verge of a breakthrough.
Matilda is taken from Housewife’s new EP, Girl Of The Hour, which is also out today. You can give the track a listen below.
