Hailing from South Africa, Zalmi is an artist who got me sitting up and paying attention with his raw and relatable new track, Skyward.

Skyward is, in the words of the artist, one for those who “didn’t get the tools you needed from your parents, and you had to learn how to ‘adult’ on your own.” It’s a refreshingly honest topic and it’s covered soulfully by his powerful and compelling vocals. The lyrics hold nothing back, captivating in their visceral storytelling. I was hanging on every word. All the while, stirring strings heighten the emotion.

It’s simply an exquisite track, one of the best I’ve heard for awhile.
