Canada’s Wotts is one of those acts who are perennially on our pages and our love for their music goes right back to 2022.

Consisting of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jayem and bassist/guitarist Ricky 100, Wotts create an infectious and unique brand of indie pop.

Their latest single, NOT US, has something of a classic feel about it, combining a piano-led pop instrumental with some laidback but hard-hitting vocals. As ever, its lyrics are memorable and rich with emotion.

For inspiration, the band turned to some pop rock of yesteryear.

“Over the last year I’ve become obsessed with The Police,” Jayem explains. “Definitely a left field inspiration in the grand scheme of things, but we couldn’t help but try to channel them in a song or two.”

NOT US is taken from Wotts’ upcoming EP FLANK! which sees the pair take some sonic risks.

“We talked a lot about taking some bolder swings in 2025,” Ricky 100 says. “We definitely have some out there ones in the hopper, but we see this EP as a good starting point to test new waters.”

Based on the evidence of NOT US, the new EP is one that’s not to be missed. The single is out now and you can give it a listen below.
