Discovery: Spathe explores family ties in melancholic rock single and video

Spathe is an alternative rock artist from Whitby. No, not that one, the one in Canada.

By Graeme Smith

It’s the project of Dyllanw Himbeault, a solo artist makes enough noise for a whole band. His latest single and video, Colourblind, is a case in point. Opening poignant and ambient, we are soon embraced by some hard-hitting looping riffs. The track then takes it time developing, finally arriving at a melancholic verse in which the vocals shine. Lyrically, the track explores themes of complex family relationships and the search for connection.

If you like your rock music with an operatic edge, you’re going to find a lot to love about Spathe’s sound. Colourblind is out now and you can give it a listen below.
