’90s rockers Giant Killers aren’t so much on a comeback as they are on a rampage. It was in February 2024 that their album Songs For The Small Places was finally released after 30 years, and they’ve been making up for lost time ever since.

They’ve just released a video for their single One For Georgie, a track that’s graced our pages before and now brought to full audio-visual life. A tribute to the footballer George Best, whom the Brighton-based duo met back in the ’90s, it’s a suitably celebrant track.
Getting off to a raucous start, we get big beats and bright brass. Soulful vocals tell the legend’s story while the accompanying video alternates between concert footage (taken from the main stage of Shiiine On Festival) and the footballer’s unmistakable image.
In their early career, Giant Killers were set to take on the world. They’d toured with Blur and were ready to release their debut album. That album then got buried by their record label for three decades. Last year, the band were finally able to unveil it and three more singles.
We’ve been flying the flag for them and hope you enjoy their throwback sound as much as we do.
One For Georgie is out now on Little Genius Recordings and you can give it a listen below.
