Taking her cues from the likes of Caroline Polachek, Charli XCX, and Lorde, Siv Disa is new to our blog with her unconventional indie pop track, Debutantes of Williamsburg.

Siv Disa is based in Los Angeles, USA, but her new track is set on America’s east coast. Paying homage to New York’s wild nighlight, Debutantes of Williamsburg takes us on a surreal party. The lo-fi style of the instrumental draws you in before Siv’s understated vocals arrive. “Take pictures with the friends that you were crying over earlier,” the song starts. “A mirror hall of compliments – The Debutantes of Williamsburg.” The storytelling in the lyrics is rich throughout; it’s a track that will really transport you.
The track is written from the perspective of a young 20-something. If you’re fortunate enough to still be one of those, then you’ll find a lot to relate to. If you still remember being that age (I just about do) then it’ll remind you of your carefree, hedonistic days.
“There’s something about the energy of a night out with friends when you’re unsure of yourself that I find nostalgic now,” Siv says. “I wrote this track for girls in their early 20s just trying to figure it out—because that used to be me.”
It’s a wonderful introduction to an artist who marches to her own beat. I’ll be looking out for more from her.
Debutantes of Williamsburg is out now via Blandishments Record Collective. You can give it a listen below.
