Los Angeles, USA-based artist Samy Sharif has been busy – he’s written and recorded three albums in eighteen months since arriving in the city.
By Graeme Smith
Albums one and two, House of Failure and House of Fix, were released in 2024 and received a good reception. House of Bliss has just been released.
He’s new to us here at York Calling, introduced by his track Snuff the Pilot Light which featured on 2024’s House of Fix. A moody number, it opens with some ponderous bass before hitting an easy soul pop stride. Samy’s vocal is the star of the show, captivatingly expressive as they deliver their poetic lyrics. A soaring chorus provides an early, stirring crescendo.
It’s well worth your time to delve into all three of Samy’s recent albums. He’s a truly unique innovator whom I’m so happy to have discovered for this blog.
