Discovery: Shape Of Water experience longing in epic club anthem

Inspired by nights out in Manchester’s clubs, Last Goodbye is the new dance track from electronic pop act Shape of Water.

By Graeme Smith

Epic from the off, Last Goodbye combines a pulsating rhythm with licks of dramatic guitar and vocals that are full of understated emotion. Lyrically, it tells a story of longing, blending love and hedonism beautifully.

Shape of Water take their cues from pop legends like Freddie Mercury and Lady Gaga, filtering those influences through their own Lancastrian lens. Formed by Rox Capriotti and Luca De Falco, they’ve been making music together since 2018, playing it fast and loose with genre all the while. Both hail from San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy, and have known each other since 2004. They made Manchester their home in 2015.

Over the years, the group have received coverage from the likes of Classic Rock and RollingStone.de and have supported legends like Bad Touch. They’ve hit the stage at Call Of The Wild festival, among others.

They’re new to us here at York Calling, but I suspect we’ll be featuring more from them going forward. Last Goodbye is a beautiful introduction to their genre-diverse sound, giving us a danceable beat and plenty of emotion.

The single is out now and you can give it a listen below.
