With his new album. Iridescent Serenade, Wandour has set about soundtracking our summer with his unique brand of deep house.
By Graeme Smith
Deep house not a genre I’ve dabbled in a lot, but Wandour might well have made me willing to explore it a little more fully. His new EP, Iridescent Serenade, is a textured electronic wonderland with funky undertones and traces of pop. At times we get hypnotic EDM (Higher) at other times something more lush and soulful (Shine).
Iridescent is a bright and edgy highlight while across the EP soft traces of vocals keep things varied and interesting. Glow is a particularly sultry and romantic moment. Away ends things in a relentless and lingering way. Throughout we are treated to synths, beats and grooves that would go down well at your next Summer BBQ.
Wandour is a music producer hailing from Indonesia who is known for making a sound that’s “sugary sweet.” Born in Jakarta, he’s been making music since 2019. It’s taken until now for it to reach us here in York, but I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for more. His new album has made me a fan.
Iridescent Serenade is out now and you can give it a listen below.
