Chloe Foy returns with ‘summer bop’

An alternative folk singer who has appeared on our blog before, Chloe Foy is back with a memorable new single.

By Graeme Smith

Foy’s latest, Elephant In The Room, is a lush acoustic folk pop number that gradually builds as it reaches its first chorus. As ever, her vocals captivate, delivering poetic lyrics that are rich with heartache and a sense of betrayal. There’s plenty of beautiful imagery but perhaps what stands out most is the memorable melody of the chorus.

“This one was a bit of last-minute fun,” Foy says of the single. “We needed a final track for the album and producer/arranger Harry Fausing Smith started playing some chords and I just let the lyrics fall out. I wanted it to have a more playful feel, with cryptic, slightly eccentric imagery like ‘the sculptor on the moon.’ While it still hints at the album’s deeper themes —emotional walls, hidden tension — it’s got a looseness and groove that feels lighter. The ‘you are’ refrain feels like my version of a summer bop. A slow one, but a bop nonetheless.”

It was in 2018 that Foy first appeared on our blog through her track and video Are We There Yet. We haven’t shared news from her since 2021, though, and I’m glad to be rectifying that now. Elephant In The Room will appear on her upcoming second album, Complete Fool, which is set for release on 6 June 2025 via Kartel Music Group.

The single is out now and you can give it a listen below.
