Turning its attention to personal trauma, I Never Knew What I Wanted is the new single from Esore Alle.

I Never Knew What I Wanted is a lively and offbeat track which stands out for its passionate and characterful vocals. In many ways, it channels the best of the jangly ’00s indie rock sound while also adding something fresh and modern to the world of music. The lyrics are introspective and confessional giving some weight to the bright instrumental. A late track breakdown provides the perfect set up to a cantering conclusion.

Despite its brightness, the story of the track is a dark one. Working with collaborator Cat Jones, Esore Alle wrote the song based on his experience of sexual trauma online and in person. The danceable nature invokes a feeling of catharsis.
