Blending heartbreak and catharsis, Heavy is the new five-track EP from DYLYN.

Opening with its title track, Heavy feels in part a revival of ’90s grunge while also being an expansion of modern pop rock. It’s a strong offering from an artist who has proven able to combine the heaviness of rock with the accessible nature of pop. DYLYN, who’s real name is Gwendolyn Lewis, has in the past landed in the Top 10 of the Billboard Charts, and the Toronto, Canada-based singer-songwriter continues to deliver.
Drown is cutting and cantering. DYLYN’s vocals are at their most expressive, full of attitude during a pacy verse before becoming soaring in the chorus. The track pairs nicely with Overrated which puts alternative rock in overdrive during a smouldering composition. Change Me is a bombastic, Muse-like number while Quit You closes things with plenty of edge and a certain bitterness.
“The extremes in life make us feel something potent and real. My life has been all about highs and lows. I embrace it and learn from it and I celebrate it,” says Lewis.
Lewis used to perform under the name Guinevere, supporting pop artists. It was her internal compass that led her to rock and the name DYLYN. She released her debut EP under that moniker in 2018 before hitting our radar in 2020 through her single and video Nothing To Lose. We haven’t shared any more from her until now. Her new EP has been worth the wait.
Heavy is set for release 16 May 2025. You can pre-save it here.
