Reminiscent of Meghan Trainor, Cheyanne Summer combines modern pop and classic rock and roll to create her sound. In EP opener, Prom Queen, her lyrics hold a certain cynicism as they rail against those who make assumptions about her, or anyone. A soft, soulful chorus proves a memorable highlight, full of claps and plenty of groove, and sets up a delightful EP.

Hypocrite calls out duplicity during a lively pop moment while Wrong Side of my 20’s is a soft ballad full of rose-tinted lyrics and a desire for self-actualisation. Do You Love Me? brings things home with an authentic story of the reality of relationships that swings.

Throughout we get charm and relatability which makes the EP stand out from the crowd, and shows why Summer is getting the attention she is. A darling of radio, the blogosphere, and streaming services, she’s an artist who’s making waves in her resident city of Calgary, Canada and around the globe. You can certainly count me a fan.
