Discovery: Gin Wife releases dreamy and honest new single

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed while in pursuit of personal goals, Gin Wife has the tonic for you.

By Graeme Smith

There’s a dreamy moroseness to her new single, The Caveat. It opens soft and stripped-back before launching forward with a dark groove and expressive vocals. As it reaches its first chorus, things get rock and roll, giving us flavours of post-punk and ’90s grunge. It’s beautifully alternative and has plenty of cynicism in its lyrics. A powerful, raucous crescendo ends things.

Influenced by the likes of Garbage, Alanis Morrissette, and York Calling favourite Tummyache, Gin Wife is an artist I’m excited to get better acquainted with.

Recorded at Salt Rock Recording Studio in Nashville, USA, The Caveat is out now and you can give it a listen below.
