Caitty channels heartache into cinematic new single

Inspired by artists like Taylor Swift and Luke Combs as well as personal experience and fantasy novels like A Court of Thorns and Roses, Ruined is the new single from Caitty.

By Graeme Smith

Ruined is a ghostly and intimate number in which moody piano is paired with expressive vocals. The lyrics speak of heartache, the devastation of betrayal, the complexity of trusting the wrong person, and getting lost in bittersweet memories in a soaring, heart-wrenching chorus. The understated nature of it all makes it beautifully compelling. A stripped-back bridge nicely sets up the cinematic close.

“I’ve always been drawn to those complicated characters who blur the lines between love and destruction,” Margaret River, Australia-based Caitty says. “Ruined is a reflection of that— themes of manipulation, obsession, and power disguised as affection. It came from a real emotional place, but also from imagining what it’s like to be in love with someone dangerous.”

With production by Yoga Ramadhan, Ruined is out now. You can give it a listen below.
