Discovery: partygirl release offbeat new single with a fresh sound

New to our blog, New York City, USA’s partygirl prove themselves heavyweights of the scene with their new single, Tony Soprano.

By Graeme Smith

About a woman finding strength in her sexuality and how, despite loss, there is always a path towards liberation, Tony Soprano is wild and raucous alternative rock with relentless riffs, rousing rhythms and offbeat vocals cutting through it all. At times, they are operatic, delivering poetic lyrics that are full of fire. A pacy musical interlude leads into a moment of piece before things build back up even more powerfully. The energy never lets up as jazz, soul and rock collide in one of the freshest tracks I’ve heard for awhile.

Partygirl were formed by bandleader Pagona Kytzidis in 2021, taking inspiration from the sounds of Led Zeppelin, Mannequin Pussy, and St. Vincent. If you like your rock edgy, then you’re going to love what they’re doing.

Tony Soprano is out now and you can give it a listen below.
