Discovery: Marc Daniels gets nostalgic in country rock single

An ode to the youthful antics of our teenage years, Good Old Days is the new single from singer-songwriter and guitarist Marc Daniels, and its got him on our radar.

By Graeme Smith

Good Old Days opens with bright and emotive chords that set the scene before Daniels’ expressive vocals come in. They hold an easy charm, and plenty of passion, particularly in a soaring chorus that’s perfect for your summer playlist. The imagery there is rich with nostalgia and hold an encouraging message.

It’s impossible to feel unhappy listening to it, especially during a vibrant, triumphant, wailing guitar solo. It sets up a layered crescendo that will stick with you long after the last note is played.

Daniels grew up on Spokane, Washington, USA and fronted several bands in the Pacific Northwest, before going solo in 2015. He’s been a proponent of the country rock scene since 2016, but has only just come to our attention.

I’ll certainly be keeping a close eye out for future releases from him. If you like country that skews traditional while also having a modern edge, then you’ll find a lot to love about what he’s doing.
