“How can you remain horny yet righteous?” ask 9 o’clock Nasty in their new hip-hop and rock mashup, Love In The Circle.
By Graeme Smith
The track sees the band channel the spirit of The Beastie Boys with old school beats, offbeat grooves and call-and-response vocals. There’s a Kasabian-esque UK indie swagger about it, creating a heady mix that only 9 o’clock Nasty could pull off. The lyrics are full of subversion in the verse before becoming warm and laidback in the chorus. A hypnotic chant brings the track to a close.
The video combines found footage of New York City with surreal appearances from the Leicester-based trio.
A perennial favourite of ours since 2022, 9 o’clock Nasty ask the questions that nobody thought to ask with their music, and the results are always as surprising as they are sublime.
Love In The Circle is the third song from their next LP, Chaos. It’s out now and you can give it a listen below.
