Discovery: Sloes return from hiatus with a story of the morning after

Sloes are a British band with their fair share of national coverage. Yet, we’ve not had new music from them since 2017.

By Graeme Smith

That’s now changed, and their latest single, Mess of Bees, has got them on our radar. About the regret felt in the morning after the night before it feels suitably melancholic. A brooding indie rock instrumental smoulders throughout, giving us cinematic elements to enhance the story of the passionate and characterful vocals.

Before going on haitus, Sloes supported Goldfrapp at Somerset House and played at Hyde Park alongside The Killers. They were supported by Dermot O’Leary on BBC Radio 2 among others. Made up of Jerome Clark (vocals/guitar), Jo Milnes (bass), Paul Hand (guitar), Luke Coare (drums) and Katie Milnes (violin), the group are making a comeback, and we’re ready for it.

Mess of Bees is out now and you can give it a listen below.
