Discovery: Frederika Rei gets us feeling with her brand of ’90s nostalgia

“Remember being fourteen and everything felt like life or death? This is for that version of you – the one who’s still in there,” says Stockholm-based artist and producer Frederika Rei of her new EP, all the feelings.

All the feelings hits hard right from the off through just love (welcome). The track combines an edgy, electronic instrument with an emotional lushness that provides instantly captivating. It’s the vocals that really shine though; they’re beautifully pleading during chanting chorus that feels like a mantra.

Slayer rocks up the tempo, driven by stomping percussion and coming to life during a powerful pop chorus. There’s a touch of ‘90s nostalgia about it that I personally appreciated.

Giulietta sees Frederika join forces with GRĒTA for a moody floor-filler. Vill du säga nåt? gives us Swedish-language Scandi-pop that bounces and pulsates. Lose my cool closes the EP with an interesting composition that opens stripped back and smouldering before arriving at a driving drum and bass arrangement that leaves it all out there.

Though new to us, Frederika has been making a splash on the Nordic pop scene since 2024. I think it’s only a matter of time before she goes international.

All the feelings is out now, and you can listen to it below.
