Lucifers Beard gets groovy with soul-searching single

Penned as an escape for “anyone who’s ever felt lost and longed for something wild, warm, and just a little unhinged,” Loveland is the latest single release from Lucifers Beard.

By Graeme Smith

Opening with a moving groove, things develop in an arrangement that pairs pop rock with disco in a lively and intriguing way. Characterful vocals take charge in the verse before we arrive at a chorus that wouldn’t be out of place in the height of the ’80s. It feels familiar, but I’ve not heard much like it.

An act who has been gracing our pages since 2022, Lucifers Beard is a perennial favourite here at York Calling. It’s great to have the one-man band back.

Mastered by Ed Ripley (Frank Turner, Dirty Blonde, Spice Girls), Loveland is out now. You can give it a listen below.
