A local artist who considers Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey, and FKA Twigs among her influences, MAAME is back with a new single about being used to feed someone’s ego.
By Graeme Smith
Her new track Ego Tripping opens with strummed acoustic guitar that creates an instant sense of atmosphere. Her lead vocal comes in, expressive and defiant, enhanced with layers of harmonies. Things get a little experimental leading into the chorus which then unfolds with some old school R&B class.
Leeds-based MAAME has been all over our blog in recent months. We discovered her music in May 2025 through her debut single, Sure, before following that up with a share of the intimate Beautiful. With Ego Tripping taken into consideration, we’re seeing a lot of different sides to her sound already.
With production from Neil Sullivan and Chris Durkin, Ego Tripping is out now. You can listen to it below.
