Attention humans! You are hereby invited to attend Black Phillip’s Castle Museum Night Market, an alternative market event like no other.

Black Phillip is the mastermind behind some of the most bizarre market events that have ever taken place in York. Now, in its newly appointed role as the Room Spell Special Events Coordinator, Black Phillip has been asked by last year’s organisers to run the night market this year.

Come along and join them for a frightfully delightful evening at The Castle Museum in York where the shadows of the past will come alive as you take a stroll down the museum’s iconic Kirkgate location with a host of mysterious traders and a few spooky alterations…

There will be market stalls where you can get your hands on some excellent alternative crafts and art, from one of 24 local artisans who will be showcasing their spooky wares in a pop-up market inside the museum in its iconic Kirkgate location.

Prepare to see Kirkgate in a very different way. The event will be putting its own stamp onto the famous recreated Victorian street, turning it into a dark wonderland. There will be a number of live actors present who will be trying their best to scare you with terrible tales some of which are true.

Entry to the event is in four time slots. The first time slot is 7pm, then 8pm, then 9pm, and the last time slot is 10pm. Be sure to buy the right ticket for the time slot that you would like to attend. The market only has a limited number of tickets available for each time slot so if you can’t see the hour that you want on Eventbrite, it means that hour is full.

You must buy tickets in advance as they can’t be bought upon arrival at the event, and you must attend at your time slot only. Please be aware of scammers. You can only get tickets from Eventbrite.

Bring your friends, family, and maybe even a friendly ghost or two. The event is totally child friendly; there will be thrills, but nothing too crazy. Don’t be scared, be ready for a night of spooky fun. Just remember, however, what happens in the dark might just come back to haunt you.
