Olina is pulled in two directions as she tugs at our heartstrings

Olina’s Newspaper Smell was an astute track that combined indie rock and psychedelia. When I saw she had a new single out, I knew I had to share it too.

Tug of War shows us a different side of her sound, stripping things back with acoustic guitar and gentle vocals. Showcasing her vocals is a smart move. They are beautiful, relatable, and ultimately heart breaking as she tells her tale of being caught between two opposing lives – the safe one and the one she dreams about.

Originally from Greece and now based in London, Olina takes her cues from the likes of Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus. Alongside her solo work, she is the lead singer of The Zaramutas and runs a handmade jewellery brand (@drool_jewel).

The second single release from her By The Book EP, Tug of War is out now. You can listen to it below.
