Ava Valianti is just sixteen years old but is already making great strides in her music career. She’s opened up about her latest single that takes us beyond her bedroom door.

“I would say that this song was created through a very autobiographical lens for me,” she confesses about her latest release, Clean My Room. “I had a summer where I felt like I wasn’t really getting out of my room, no matter how much I wanted to. I felt stuck in the place I was at in life, and this song kind of emerged from that feeling. It’s one of my most introspective songs I’ve ever written, which makes it one of my favourites.”
Valianti is proving a queen of introspection through her singer-songwriter-styled songs. Since we discovered her music in 2024, we’ve heard tales of loving someone from afar, growing up, self-doubt, losing childhood friends, and the search for purpose. They’re weighty topics and all things that we think about as we’re finding our place in life in our mid-teens.
“I think my biggest goal is just to make people feel deeply when they listen to my music, and if a lot of people feel deeply, think deeply, and relate to my songs, then I think I’ve done my job,” says Valianti about her music.
She’s certainly managed that so far. I’ve found each of her tracks stirring and Clean My Room captivates through its honesty. It’s a slow-builder, feeling cinematic in its stripped-back intro before her vocals float in for a raw and uncompromising verse. A looping acoustic guitar riff keeps things moving along as the lyrics unravel. Things come to a head in the chorus which blows off some steam.
I asked her how she thinks the track compares to her previous releases.
“I think I’ve tried to find myself and my identity a little bit more since then, which has definitely translated into the type of sound I want,” she says. “My lyrics feel more raw, vulnerable, and open, which is always exciting, and I think my sound is more distinct now.
“I’m still trying to truly find myself and my path in music, but it’s slowly becoming more clear which just makes the creation so much easier and more fun.”
Clean My Room is the perfect track to set up her upcoming debut EP, Petunias, which will feature already released singles and new songs. “I think you can expect a lot of different things [from the EP,]” says Valianti. “I tried to build on my lyricism while experimenting with a bunch of different types of pop/indie sounds.”
The EP drops on 24 October 2025 and Valianti is promising us more music after that. “I’m getting back in the studio and back onstage with some live performances, so more exciting news to come,” she says.
Until then we can content ourselves with her growing back catalogue and her latest single.
“The attention and kindness has been overwhelming but extremely exciting for me, and all the feedback I hear is very valuable for me,” Valianti adds finally. “I’m just so grateful to be gaining support because it’s hard to put myself out there sometimes, so people being kind and caring about my music really helps. It just blows my mind!”
Clean My Room is out now, and you can listen to it below.
