Wakefield’s Oliver Pinder ponders lifetime love with new single

Oliver Pinder was born in Queensbury, Bradford before finding his way to Wakefield. It’s a town that’s often sat in the shadow of Leeds but has a strong scene if you dig into it. We’ve shared a few artists from that way.

Pinder’s music has appeared on our blog a few times now, going back to the summer of 2024. It’s a bonus that he’s a local artist and I’d be sharing his music even if he weren’t. His tracks hit hard emotionally while channelling modern singer-songwriter sensibilities. His range goes from the intimate to the anthemic.

His latest, love of my life, is a heartfelt one. A tribute to his grandmother, its personal nature comes through strongly right from its gentle, twinkling intro to its expressive verse, to its powerful, cathartic crescendo.

“I asked her why she never remarried or found someone else, and she just said: ‘he was the love of my life.’” Pinder shares about the track’s origin. “That hit me so hard, the song pretty much wrote itself in 20 minutes.”

Oliver Pinder’s new EP is just around the corner now, set for release in November 2025. Based on what we’ve heard from him so far, it’ll be a record not to be missed.

If you like Phoebe Bridgers or Sam Fender, he could be your new love. You can give love of my life a listen below.
