Known for their ironic lyrics and inversion of pop norms, 9 o’clock Nasty are one of the most original acts in the UK as far as I’m concerned.

They’re showing no signs of slowing down, adding Game Fit to their impressive list of single releases. The track skewers the stoking of fear and violence that is ever-present in our modern world, releasing the tension through an arrangement that brings in elements of techno and hip-hop to their punk rock repertoire.
Call and response vocals are becoming something of a recurrent feature, and it works for them. You get the feeling of being ganged up on, but in a good way. All the while the menacing atmosphere is lightened by the band’s ability to bring levity to just about anything.
A suitably archaic video accompanies the track.
I now consider Leicester-based rockers Pete Brock, Ted Pepper, and Sydd Spudd among my oldest pals when it comes to this blog. We’ve been sharing their irreverent and numerous singles since 2022, and I ran the rule over their album THIS IS CROWLAND earlier in 2025. No doubt there’s another album on the way.
Game Fit is out now, and you can give it a listen below.
