We’re pretty used to Andrea Pizzo’s high concepts by now, but he and his Purple Mice’s latest project might be the most ambitious yet.
By Graeme Smith
In previous projects, Pizzo has explored humanity’s relationship with AI and technology in EP We Are All Bots and single, The Machine. In Come Out Lazarus I – Life Is Over, he tells the more mythical story of a fatal accident at Christmas and a heart donation that leads to a second life.
Coming complete with a video, the track tackles themes of death, passage, and rebirth through a moody, offbeat groove. Elements of classic rock blend with prog and something a little more undefinable as Pizzo tells his tale.
The use of Sanskrit in the lyrics infuses the track with a sense of ancient knowledge, and the composition’s ability to seamlessly shift gears keeps things fresh and interesting as it unfolds.
Come Out Lazarus I is the first release from Andrea Pizzo and The Purple Mice’s upcoming concept album, People Zero, which promises a series of human episodes. I’m excited to hear how the story continues.
