Discovery: TNCS

TNCS are a Newcastle-based rock band who have just hit my radar thanks to their latest single release, all about life, stress and relief. It’s called I Want To Run to the Top of a Mountain and Scream.

By Graeme Smith

As the title suggest, I Want To Run… is a song all about letting go. After a simmering intro, the music perfectly matches the sentiment with some jangly, feelgood and cathartic rock. The chanting lyrics are singalong and an explosive chorus will have you absolutely hooked.

TNCS are songwriter Richie Harrison, who also plays guitar, singer Tony Carr, drummer Kev Henderson, keyboard player Emma Stubbs, guitarist Ewan Boiston-Green, and bassist Rayyan Styles. They’ve been performing together since last year, brought together through a shared love of acts like Oasis, IDLES and Joy Division. Though new to the scene, they’ve been played on BBC Radio 6 and have taken the stage at Coastal Crawl 24.

I Want to Run… was recorded at Blank Studio with Chris McManus. You can give it a listen below.
