With applications from musicians wishing to be part of this year’s festival having closed last week, the team behind York’s Little Festival of Live Music now have the mammoth task of whittling 511 applications down to 28 acts, who will be performing at this year’s festival, which will take place on Parliament Street from 22 – 30 September (excluding 25 and 26 September).

The music event, which takes place alongside the York Food and Drink Festival, has grown from strength to strength since its formation in 2013. The event has generated a large number of loyal fans having built up a reputation across Yorkshire and beyond, and regularly receives interest from musicians from up and down the country.
Ellen Cole, Festival Director of York’s Little Festival of Live Music says: “My aim for the festival has and always will be to generate an inclusive music festival for all to enjoy. I wholeheartedly believe the festival is going in this direction and each year we make huge improvements to ensure that everyone who comes to our festival enjoys it regardless of whether they are a music-lover or new to the live music scene. This year, we have had over 500 musicians apply for the festival, including performers from London, North Wales, Edinburgh, Cumbria and of course from across Yorkshire. I am thrilled that so many acts want to be part of our festival and feel sad that I can’t give them all a slot. We’ve received so many applications from many talented musicians and would love to work with them all, whether it be during our 2017 festival or any other future events.”
York’s Little Festival of Live Music has had an incredible couple of years and most recently won the title of York’s Outstanding New Festival of the Year and narrowly missed out on the regional title, which the festival is striving to get this year. Ellen and her team will now spend June collating the acts for this year’s festival and will announce the line-up in July.
