Discovery: Andrew Orkin

Andrew Orkin is a South African composer who merges a classical sound with experimental production techniques to create a beautiful hybrid in new track One for the Faint of Heart.

As you’d expect, One for the Faint of Heart is a delicate composition. It opens with slow and mournful strings and piano. Yet, there is an undercurrent of something a little unusual, faint but unmistakable. The sound grows and the classical elements are joined by uncanny sounds and rhythms, giving the whole piece an otherworldly feel.

The track is from Andrew’s EP Cirrus, recorded with the aim of raising funds for Gift of the Givers, an African charity for the hungry. Check out One for the Faint of Heart below.
