Jodie Nicholson is a Darlington-based artist who I first discovered last year through her track I Must Be Dreaming. Her new track Second Sun has a similarly intimate acoustic style but with lots to reward the patient listener.

The slow-burning song, ostensibly about patience, perseverance and hope, grows in complexity as it progresses. A gently upbeat chorus catches the ear and Jodie’s haunting vocals are, as always, beautiful. If anyone needed evidence as to why Jodie is getting so much attention right now, Second Sun provides it.
Though still early in her career, Jodie has supported some big names, including The Futureheads, Cattle & Cane and local heroes The Howl & The Hum. There’s more live performance on the way, including a date with Nerina Pallot at the National Centre For Early Music here in York on 18 November.
You can hear Second Sun below.
