Black Pixels are a post pop outfit based in London, but with more than one connection to York. Their debut single is called Hurricane.
By Graeme Smith
Mournful and pensive, Hurricane feels like the perfect track written to describe a mood of looming environment disaster. It has a melody that will stick with you while chanting vocals from Alanah Shiel will utterly mesmerise you. Through all the sadness though, there’s bright echoing guitar and a trace of hope, especially as the track hits its epic climax.
Post pop is a genre that draws both from pop and art rock influences and for Black Pixels that means Joy Division, LCD Soundsystem, and Radiohead to name a few. Fans of those artists should definitely check Hurricane out. You can listen to it below.
