Discovery: Erika Nomena

Erika Nomena is an alternative pop artist based in Bergen, Norway. It speaks of the feeling of frustration that comes with overthinking things and a desire to let it all go. It’s called Careless.

Careless perfectly captures the tension of its topic. Terse chords in the verse give way to a funky and freeing chorus. Erika’s vocals bring an understated energy, smooth and soulful and utterly mesmerising. Eighteen-year-old Erika teamed up with her cousin Sitraka Andriana and GRAMMY-award winning producer Pete Smith for this track and the result is a wonderful combination of youth and maturity.

Originally from Madagascar, Erika grew up in Norway. For her song writing she takes inspiration from the likes of Lizzy McAlpine and Ashe and fans of those artists will find a lot to love about Careless. You can give it a listen below.
