Kid Apollo, real name Rory Mullan, is a Londonderry-based singer songwriter who I first featured on the blog at the start of this year after the release of his relatable track Catching Blues. Now he’s back with a new one, a call to escaping thoughts and letting go. It’s called 9:31.
By Graeme Smith
Kid Apollo delivers anthemic indie pop and 9:31 is no exception. A classic rock opening features echoing guitar and plodding bass that could easily fill an arena. Yet, when the vocals come in there’s a confessional intimacy to them that make you feel that Rory is singing to you personally. The track grows into a catchy, memorable chorus before hitting its peak during a groovy instrumental break down.
For fans of The Strokes or Dayglow, you can check out 9:31 below.
