New Music: The Meskimo – The Brothers McKenna Drop Out

The Meskimo is an American art rock artist who I’ve featured before on the blog. Back in November of last year, I was quite taken with his romantic and storytelling track …And The Stars Would Explode. Now he’s back with a new one – a tribute to psychedelic pioneers Terrence and Dennis McKenna. It’s called The Brothers McKenna Drop Out.

It’s a fitting tribute, full of classic, atmospheric psychedelia. Yet, there’s something fresh feeling about the track too. The Meskimo has put his own spin in the sound and the result is something timeless, like a reinvention of something that was already truly inventive. What I can say for certain is there isn’t much like it out there at the moment and that’s something that should be celebrated.
