Celestial North is a Scotland, born, Kendal-based dream pop artist who has caught my attention through her folklore-infused new single. It’s called When The Gods Dance.
By Graeme Smith
When The Gods Dance is the kind of track that instantly envelopes you with its atmosphere. Ethereal layers set the scene before a percussive groove takes things in dance direction. The star of the show are the vocals though, delicately and charismatically telling a story of another world hidden somewhere within our own. This track is really special.
Celestial North grew up in a house where David Bowie was played alongside Flamenco, which might go some way to explain how she brings together modern, experimental and traditional elements in her music. I’m excited to hear what she brings out next.
