Discovery: Lucas Fournier

Lucas Fournier is a Montréal, Canada-based acoustic folk singer songwriter. Still young and early in his career he’s caught my ear with his gentle but challenging style, akin to Novo Amor and Bon Iver. His latest is called Lakeside.

By Graeme Smith

Lakeside tells a melancholic story of not being there, told through lush lyrical detail and a rich instrumental arrangement that pairs strummed acoustic guitar with expressive strings. As the track progresses, strings give way to keys during a contemplative, minimal breakdown before the emotion is turned up to eleven during its conclusion.

It really is an impressive introduction to an artist who clearly has a lot to share with the world. I can’t wait to hear more from him, and I hope you’ll agree. You can check out Lakeside below.
