Asterous are Vancouver, Canada-based Rummy Kandola and Don Beaudoin. They’ve made a few appearances on our blog already over the last twelve months or so, but their new track is a bit different from their previous releases in that it is entirely self-produced. It’s called Animus.
By Graeme Smith
Despite the change in production style, Asterous has retained the moody style of classic rock that we know and love them for. Rummy’s vocals remain as haunting and expressive as I remember and Don provides some inventive instrumental backing. Lyrically, the track speaks of duplicity and there’s a wonderful Roger Waters-esque cynicism about it.
It’s so nice to welcome Asterous’s return to our blog. They’re a band that always brings something fresh and interesting with each release and Animus is no exception. You can give it a listen below.
