Torrence is a Bournemouth-based singer songwriter who has just released his debut single Violent Tendencies. Once I saw its provocative video, I was moved to share it.

In Violent Tendencies, Torrence explores his experience growing up with ADHD. Being young is tough – emotions get the better of us and we don’t yet fully grasp the world around us, and that all gets heightened when you’re suffering from an undiagnosed neurodivergent condition. Torrence gives us a glimpse into this world through this refreshingly honest track and video.

Musically it’s folk pop. There’s a gentle, pensive vulnerability to the instrumentals while Torrence’s soulful vocals have a commercial appeal. It’s through his storytelling lyrics that he really sets himself apart though. It truly is a stunning debut from an artist who is surely destined for big things.
