London-based alternative rock duo Apple Shakers have featured on our blog a couple of times already this year and I find myself returning once again to their unique brand of existentialism. Their latest track is called Lean Upon My Shoulder.
By Graeme Smith
There’s a classic feel to Lean Upon My Shoulder with hints of ’60s rock and blues a la The Kinks. A low-key verse gives way to a vibrant, riff-filled chorus and all the while the lyrics stay intriguingly poetic. Speaking of sadness and loneliness, the track aims to provide reassurance – you are not alone and you matter.
Apple Shakers have got such a fresh approach to rock that honours the genre’s roots while giving us something new. I continue to be excited about what they’re doing. I hope you’ll agree. You can check out Lean Upon My Shoulder below.
