Video: Neon Black Dreams – Kiss of the Universe

Neon Black Dreams are a Kiev, Ukraine-based synthpop band who Jane first discovered for us over the Summer. Since then, they’ve not been far from our pages, with a Q&A and a follow up single in the autumn. Yet, this marks my first chance to run the rule over their music. Their latest track and video is called Kiss of the Universe.

By Graeme Smith

Kiss of The Universe is the title track from the duo’s debut album. A concept album, it describes an adventure set in 1989 (more on that later this week when I share my review of the album). For now, we get the story’s final chapter, told through cinematic and experimental electronic pop. There’s such a beautiful sense of drama in both the music and the video.

Neon Black Dreams channels both retro influences such as Depeche Mode, Eurythmics and John Carpenter with more modern ones like York Calling favourite Madison Beer. Fans of any of those artists will find a lot to love about Kiss Of The Universe. You can give the video a watch below.
