Eydís Evensen is an Icelandic pianist and composer who has just caught my attention through her dramatic and uplifting new neoclassical piece and video Tephra Horizon.

Tephra Horizon paints a wonderfully rich and vivid picture with piano, strings and other instrumentals. My heart couldn’t help but rise with the composition as it gradually but assuredly reached its climax. Its accompanying video provides stunning imagery, including sweeping shots of Iceland that will have you craving a taste of its solitude.

Eydís released her debut album Bylur is 2021 and followed it with an EP Frost last year. Tephra Horizon will feature on her upcoming second album The Light due out in May this year via XXIM Records. You can give the video a watch below.
