Luxembourg-based instrumental post and math rock band The Cookie Jar Complot featured on our blog a few times last year, impressing both Jane and I with their unique and captivating sound. Now they’re back with our first share of their music this year, the humorously-titled Beaver Deceiver.

Despite the title, Beaver Deceiver is a moody and dramatic piece, a gentle opening gives way suddenly to a punchy rock arrangement that features rumbling bass mingling with bright guitar textures. It’s a piece that never grows stale, cantering breathlessly through a series of surprising yet congruent movements. It might just be their best track yet.
The Cookie Jar Complot have a new EP on the way this year, Lobster Knife Fight. You can check out Beaver Deceiver below.
