New Music: JUNK – They Call Me Old Man

American nu jazz collective JUNK have been all over our pages of late thanks to the tracks we’ve featured from their debut EP Chromatose. Now, with barely a few weeks’ break, they’re back with another one, an unexpected track that takes a swing at ageism. It’s called The Call me Old Man.

By Graeme Smith

They Call me Old Man opens with jazzy sax before developing into a hip-hop verse complete with rapped vocals. It’s retro but there’s nothing old or stale about it, which is basically the point the track is trying to make – age is a number and youth has nothing to do with age.

It’s another wonderfully fresh and unique track from an act that I really can’t get enough of. If you’ve been feeling the JUNK vibe, then check out The Call me Old Man below. If you’re hearing about them for the first time, then now’s the time to discover them!
