Hailing from Canada, Propter Hawk are a rock and roll band consisting of Malorie Blake on lead vocals, Alec McEachern on lead guitar, Andrew Blake on rhythm guitar, Brian Derro on bass and backup vocals, and Jimmy Ruddock on drums and backup vocals. They’ve just caught my attention thanks to their lively new track Telephone.

Telephone opens with a classic guitar riff that instantly sets a warm and rich mood. What really captured me about the track, though, was Malorie’s expressive vocals and the song’s wonderfully poetic lyrics that set an intimate story against a backdrop of societal ails.

Propter Hawk was formed, in the words of the band, from “broken shards of former bands and shady, desperate classified ads”. That’s exactly the kind of world you’re invited into by Telephone. You can give it a listen below.
