Derry, Ireland-based Rory Mullan, who performs as Kid Apollo, has featured on our blog a few times now, and he never fails to impress me with new music. His latest is no exception. Taking inspiration from the likes of Damon Albarn, St. Vincent and Arcade Fire, it’s called Melancholy Operator.

Kid Apollo takes the idea of genre and leaves it at the door with his music. Melancholy Operator combines elements of ’70s folk rock with ’90s indie and modern pop elements. The result is something that feels beautifully laidback while delivering a story that is full of angst.
