Glam is the performing name of Vienna, Austria based experimental electronica artist Gloria Amesbauer. They’ve just hit my radar thanks to the first single of their upcoming debut album The Color, The Dark. Coming complete with a video, it’s called Bookshelf.

Don’t be fooled by the name, Glam is not a sugary pop outfit. Rather, what you get from them is deep and cerebral experimental folk complete with pleading vocals and compositional twists and turns. For Bookshelf, Gloria took inspiration from Arcade Fire’s My Body Is A Cage, and you get a similar explosion of sound at the end of the track’s first third.
Its intimate video opens with a microscopic closeup that gradually pulls out to give a picture that is distorted and saturated with colour. You can check out the video below.
