In a former life, I saw Bear’s Den perform live upstairs at the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham, but they’d fallen off my radar since then. Now the British folk rock act are firmly back on it thanks to their new track Evelyn.

Evelyn instantly reminded me of why I got excited by Bear’s Den all those years ago. Wonderful song writing and captivating vocals tell a story of heartache and misconceptions. All the while, a powerful instrumental arrangement ramps the track’s sense of drama up.

Last year was a big year for Bear’s Den. They released their fourth studio album Blue Hours and worked with the likes of Maisie Peters and Jade Bird. They’ve got a new EP set for release in June, First Loves. On the evidence of Evelyn, 2023 is going to be another stomper of a year for them.
