Lazy Hunter are a band based across Sheffield and Manchester. They’ve featured once before on these pages, as part of Jane’s Astral Traveller round-up of psychedelic music. Now it’s my turn to run the rule over their music, courtesy of their new track Ritual.

Ritual is a dreamy and expansive track that combines classic and modern rock elements in a new and exciting way. Frontman Chris Gibson’s vocals are wonderfully soulful, delivering lyrics that are rich with romance and relatability. Yet, there’s more to the track than a typical love song. The object of desire in Ritual is not a person but the concept of success, and the lyrics meditate how constantly striving for it can be detrimental.

Lazy Hunter are a unique act who create compelling music. It’s easy to see why Jane was excited by them and now I am too. You can check out Ritual for yourself below.
